Eligibility

For applying for the post of Gang man under Railway Group D, educational qualification should be NCVT / SCVT or 10th class or ITI pass. For Group D posts of railways, the ITI (ITI) mandatory has been abolished as per the order of Ministry of Railways. Now, tenth pass candidates can also apply for this post.

Age Limit: The post of Railway Gang Man comes under Group D. For recruitment to this post, the candidate should be in the age range between 18 years to 33 years. For reserved category candidates, upper age limit is relaxed as per Central Government rules.

Two examinations are conducted for recruitment to the post of Gang Man under Group D in Indian Railways. The first exam is CBT i.e. computer based and the second exam is based on PET i.e. Physical Efficiency Test. Only those candidates who pass both the exams are eligible for selection. Computer based test is a qualifying exam.

Physical efficiency test

Candidates who are declared successful in the CBT will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). To get a job in Group D, it will be necessary to be successful.

Criteria of Physical Test:

– 35 kg weight will have to be carried up to 100 meters within two minutes.

Apart from this, one thousand meter race will have to be completed in four minutes and 15 seconds.

Pay Scale: – Determination of pay for Group D posts, basic pay will start from 18000 as per Pay Matrix Level 1 of Seventh Pay Commission. Other allowances will be determined on the basis of this basic salary. After adding other necessary allowances, the Group D employee is paid Rs. 23, 000 to Rs. 25, 000 / – per month approx.

General Intelligence and Reasoning – Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operation, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Difference, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Direction, Statement- Arguments and Assumptions

General Science – Physics, Chemistry, Life Science at 10th level

General Awareness on Current Affair – Science & Technologies, Sports , Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics
